Cobb County also offers vegetative waste recycling including stumps, trees, brush, grass and leaves for a minimum fee of $7. This site has a lot of great recycling information!
PlasticShopping Bags are collected at
Publix on Johnson Ferry/Shallowford and
Wal-Mart on Johnson Ferry.
Junk Mail, Magazines, Catalogs, Office Paper, and Aluminum Cans are collected in dumpsters in the side parking lot at
Tritt Elementary School on Post Oak Tritt Road.
Fluorescent Light Bulbs are not accepted at the three recycling centers. They contain mercury and can not be thrown into the regular trash. Our only current option is the collection service at
IKEA.
Eye Glasses are accepted at
For Eyes near the Home Depot on Roswell Road, just west of Johnson Ferry on Roswell Road,
4101 Roswell Road, Marietta
Styrofoam Packing Peanuts, the S-shaped, dimpled kind only are re-used at the UPS Store near Kroger on Shallowford/Johnson Ferry.
Styrofoam Packaging (egg cartons, etc.) is collected at
Publix on Johnson Ferry/Shallowford
Cell Phones are collected at Staples at
1125 Woodstock Road, Roswell and
945 North Point Drive in Alpharetta
Batteries - used alkaline batteries may be thrown in your regular trash. Rechargeable Batteries of all kinds, Lithium, NiCad, button cell, are collected at
Batteries Plus at 755B Holcomb Bridge Road, in Alpharetta, just east of Alpharetta Highway on Holcomb Bridge Road
Rechargeable Power Tool Batteries (no other kinds of batteries) are accepted at Home Depot locations.
Car and truck batteries are required to be taken back by locations that sell them.
Paint - there is no household hazardous waste collection site in Georgia (how sad). Representatives from the EPA tell you that you should mix clay kitty litter in with the paint to dry it out, then throw out with your regular trash.
Christmas Trees are collected at Home Depot after Christmas. Also, if you purchase a tree from Pikes Nursery, then they will come and pick up your tree after Christmas for a small fee. Watch this web site and your e-mail for reminders about these services.
